LET'S TALK

WE ENRICH YOUR EXPERIENCES

Tasked with enhancing the summer programming space for Yerkes Observatory in Williams Bay, WI, Common Place Projects designed Faceted —a custom-built sculptural activation and stage backdrop— for their panel discussions, lectures, music performances, and more. Drawing inspiration from how the Observatory’s Great Refractor telescope bends light to form an image, Faceted uses bespoke, interlocking modular tiles to create a dynamic visual experience of shapes, shadows, and prismatic colors for audience members to enjoy.

To create the thematic prism effect, a number of the tiles were veneered with iridescent vinyl in order to produce a unique color and shadow play when lit and viewed from different angles —generating an ever-changing effect.

MODULAR SYSTEM

With flexibility in mind, the individual components of Faceted were designed to be modular —allowing the activation to take on many forms.

ENDLESS CONFIGURATIONS

The lightweight and durable interlocking tiles can be easily disassembled and reassembled to accommodate numerous configurations and use cases.
